ABOUT

CANDLEFISH is a party band .. because performing to them IS a party .. or always turns into one .. or maybe it's just that some parties never end??? No pretentions. No inflated egos. Just pure-fun-straight-ahead-rock-and-roll. CANDLEFISH is at its best when the dance floor is filled, and it never takes long for that to happen ..

CANDLEFISH evolved from a duo formed by Big Boss Wally and the late Tom "Duke" Aton, whose paths had crossed several times since the 1970s. In the spring of 2006 they added bassist Casey Jones and Ginz the drummer, both veterans of the Northeast Pennsylvania rock scene. With Duke's passing in the summer of 2007, Casey moved to lead-guitar, a task he had never before handled. Uncle Joe - long-time friend, master-mechanic, brother to Big Boss Wally, and Jack Bruce devotee - was tapped to fill in the bottom. These guys have one helluva good time playing together!!!

MOST RECENTLY, drummer Lightnin' Lee has picked up where Ginz left off. A superb rock drummer, Lee plays with several local groups, including Hitchin' Cricket. We hope to see Lee more often with Candlefish, although we wish him the best with all his musical endeavors.

CANDLEFISH performs a wide range of infectiously danceable material from the last four decades, including the classic hits of the Beatles, Stones, Tom Petty, Van Morrison, Eric Clapton, CSN, and CCR, plus a host of classic blues, country crossovers, and southern rock.

CANDLEFISH has grown comfortable in a number of venues, from hot little road-house bars (where it all started) to large outdoor settings, parties, and casual weddings. For more relaxed environments, Big Boss Wally and Casey Jones strap on acoustic guitars for a couple sets of Bob Dylan, Neil Young, the Grateful Dead, and other "wooden" classics.

If you are new to CANDLEFISH, don't be shy!!! Come on out for a good time !!!
